  1. Great post! The NY Times infographics are just amazing. This one does a great job of providing a sense of scale -- much better than a table filled with dollars and labels. Also, if you haven't checked out www.good.is it's worth doing so. Their infographics are also very well done.

  2. I agree - very interesting. I found it interesting to see the size relationship between the department of defense, social security, health care, medicare, and income assistance programs. I think it is widely assumed that the share of the budget for income assistance programs is much, much bigger.

  4. This puts it all in perspective. We hear so much bickering between parties on spending levels on reletively small programs meanwhile no one acknowloges the elephants in the room (defense, medicare, social security). We know why: It would be political suicide to do so.

  5. Great post! It makes the proportion and changes so easy to see! I found it very interesting that it seems that education funding targeting on special population has been cut quite a bit.
